The book for review is “Scott Pilgrim Color Hardcover Volume 1: Precious Little Life” by Bryan Lee O’Malley. It falls in the genre of comics and graphic novels.
Our hero, so to speak, is Scott Pilgram. He is a young 23-year-old who shares an apartment with his friend Wallace. He has told his friends that he now dating a woman by the name of Knives. The lady is a 17-year-old high school student. The one person who thinks this is perfectly normal is his sister. Scott is part of a rock band, not a very good one, that is faithfully followed and adored by Knives.
Things are going as normal as they can for Scott until he crosses the path with a young woman by the name of Ramona Flowers. Instant fascination with her fills him as he needs to know more about her. He wants her to be his girlfriend. This is all good until he learns of her history and the many boyfriends she has dated. While they are all her ex’s, they think different as Scott has to fight each one in order to maintain a relationship with Ramona.
This was a pretty comical book that made me giggle out loud. It is not meant to be anything but a fun read. Forget about plots, storyline and character development and just enjoy it. That is the point of this book or at least it was for me.
