“A Petition to Magic”

The short story for review is “ A Petition to Magic” by Graham Downs.

The region has a new queen, due to the death of her mother. But have no fear, Solon at your service. Who is Solon? A royal wizard who has the ability to get the truth from people who come to request aid from the queen. Easy peasy, right?

Enter Marcus, a Virduran farmer, who claims his cow was stolen by his neighbor. Is he telling the truth? It’s up to Solon to whip up a spell and find out. But there’s a problem. He’s unable to perform magic.

This is a delightful short story with a very attractive cover. When the author sent me the synopsis I knew right away I wanted to find out what happened next. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and was happy the author approached me to read and review a copy of it. The pace is really good for a story of this size. You will bond to one or more of the characters, I did.

It’s a quick read and well worth the price.
